The year has come to an end, I don’t know about you, but personally I didn’t meet a lot of targets I set, I wasn’t able to finish some of the things I started.
And of one my slogans this year has been— ‘no regrets’. I have no plans of feeling guilty nor ashamed of what I did or couldn’t do and neither should you.
Instead of beating up yourself for goals not met here are two things I would like you to do:
1. Get Back on Track
It’s only 9 days until the year comes to an end, you may worry that it’s too late to work on your goals now, No, it’s not.
I read a quote the other day on how time is irreplaceable and how we cannot buy time back — this I do not agree with.
You can actually redeem time, you can buy it back. If we think of what we do in each moment as leading unto an ultimate purpose then all we need to do at any moment in time is to get back on track to fulfilling that purpose.
A popular proverb says, “When fishermen cannot go to sea, they mend their nets”. In other words, it doesn’t matter if you aren’t catching fish right now, but be engaged in an activity that will lead you to catch fish in the future.
The marathon is not won when the umpire blows the whistle, it is won through years of training—determination, endurance and diligence.
So start mending your nets, get your battle weapons ready, get your strategies written down, get your running shoes ready, prepare your environment, prepare your mind, map out your coming year.
Just get back on track.
Then,
2. Map it Out!
“The time to have the map is before you enter the woods.” ~Brendon Burchard.
When a designer gets an order for a dress, the first thing they do is to draw out a design, then they map that out before the sewing begins. Before a house is built, the structure is drawn on paper and then followed. Doctors write out their treatment plans before embarking on treatment.
So I need you to get a designated book and map out your 2025.
Write down your vision— a vision for each area of life that is important for example, your relationships, spirituality, health, work, money.
Pick one area, write out current gaps, failures in the previous year, goals for the next year and finally, step by step plans on how to achieve this.
I’d suggest you do a 12 week plan. So that you don’t need to wait until 52 weeks are up before you reassess, instead you get to know how far you’ve gone every 12 weeks.
